Two air carriers canceled local and international flights ahead of Pope Francis’ visit to the Philippines from January 15 to 19, citing closure of roads leading to Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
AirAsia canceled January 15 flights: Kuala Lumpur-Manila-Kuala Lumpur; Manila-Incheon-Manila; Manila-Seoul-Manila; Cebu-Manila; Manila-Tacloban City-Manila; Manila-Kalibo-Manila; and Manila-Tagbilaran City-Manila.
No January 16 and January 18 flights were cancelled.
AirAsia’s January 19 flights canceled were: Manila-Tagbilaran-Manila; Manila-Cebu; and Manila-Kalibo.

Philippine Airlines (PAL) also canceled 71 flights.

Canceled January 18 flights were: Hong Kong-Manila; Manila-Singapore-Manila; Manila-Haneda-Manila; Manila-Bangkok-Manila; Manila-Jakarta-Manila; and Manila-Fukuoka-Manila.
PAL said passengers booked on these flights are advised to call PAL Reservations (632-8558888) for rebooking and/or refund assistance.
Tickets may be rebooked for travel within 30 days from the original travel date without penalty, provided tickets are still valid.
The tickets may be refunded without penalty.
Rerouting will be allowed under certain conditions.
