Several flights bound for Tagbilaran and Cebu were disrupted on Tuesday morning following an earthquake that hit the Visayas regions.
“All Cebu Pacific Air flights from Tagbilaran, Bohol and Cebu are suspended in the meantime, due to a strong earthquake this morning,” Cebu Pacific said in an advisory.
At least one Philippine Airlines flight, PR 773 bound for Tagbilaran, had been delayed due to the magnitude 7.2 quake in Bohol.
However, 85 passengers of the original 155 passengers of flight 773 that supposed to depart at 9:30 a.m. had requested for voluntary offloading.
According to the source, passengers of PAL flight PR 848 (Cebu to Manila) was about to board the plane when the quake suddenly struck. “Boarding na sana kaso nga lang nagtakbuhan yung mga pasahero palabas ng airport,” the source said.
Flight PR 849 (Manila-Cebu) and another Manila-Cebu flight PR 853 that were about to depart on their early morning flights, respectively, were temporarily ordered on hold but was later allowed to leave the Ninoy Aquino International Airport terminal 2.
Other PAL flights bound for Cebu that will fly on their scheduled flights are PR 855 (12:00n), PR 857 (1:00p.m.), PR 861 (3:30p.m.), PR 863 (5:00p.m.), PR 865 7:35p.m.), PR 867 (9:10p.m.), and PR 879 (10:00p.m.).
As of 11:22a.m., Cebu Pacific said in an advisory update flights 5J 617 and 5J 618 (Manila-Tagbilaran-Manila) are cancelled because of the suspension of Tagbilaran airport operations. But flights to and from Cebu have resumed. “Guests are advised to expect consequential delays on flights today. We will continue to provide updates as soon as possible.” BENJIE L. VERGARA
