WASHINGTON: The flu vaccine prevents the virus more than half the time in children and can also ward off more serious sickness, said the findings of a major clinical trial on Wednesday.

The randomized, controlled study published in the New England Journal of Medicine is the first of its kind to measure how well the flu shot works specifically in children.
