Flying high on ‘inspirational entertainment’

“Kung may pinagdadaanan ka, daanan mo lang—huwag kang tumambay” is just one of Michael Angelo Lobrin’s wise yet amusing pieces of advice, which has taken his block-timer on GMA TV through five successful seasons on air.

“It is a choice to be happy,” he added convincingly.

The sought after public speaker—who has coined the portmanteau “intertainment” to describe the concept of his show #Michaelangelo as “inspirational entertainment”—has a never-ending well of these positive reminders that his childhood dream of being on television, and eventual calling to uplift people’s spirits, has garnered a huge following every Saturday afternoon since late 2014.

A magna cum laude of Philosophy who almost became a priest, Lobrin has devoted himself to using his God-given talent for public speaking and gift of wit and humor in helping people through their daily lives.

“I find it a blessing to be able to inspire people through laughter on this powerful medium of television because as we all know, marami po sa atin ang hirap sa buhay,” he continued at an interview on Wednesday night in Q.C., “That’s why I am also very grateful na may mga tao na tumutulong sa akin magawa ito—from my production team, my manager and writer Chito Francisco who is behind many comedy shows on GMA, and of course my father-figure Ronald Mascariñas of Bounty Agro Ventures, who has funded this program since the second season—because the show has made a difference in people’s lives.”

A consistent trending topic on social media, Lobrin happily announced that #MichaelAngelo will begin its sixth season this Saturday, November 26 to continue to satisfy audiences who look for meaningful lessons on TV—be it through the host’s nuggets of wisdom, Bible-based teachings and quotes, or though the lives of his featured celebrity guests.

“We have exciting new concepts and segments, which will continue to bring positive vibes to our audience, and with no less than Alden Richards as our featured guest for the first episode,” Lobrin enthused. “From him, people will see how hard work pays off, and how faith and humility has led him to success, while keeping him grounded.”

#MichaelAngelo airs on GMA TV every Saturday at 5 p.m.
