FOI exists under Aquino 3RD— Coloma


Presidential Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. on Thursday said that the essence of the Freedom of Information (FOI) bill has been in the Aquino administration through the existence of government websites. Coloma said the existence of the citizen’s chapter on government agencies website provides the public access to information such as budget transaction of national agencies, biding that is being supervised by the Joint Public-Private Venture (JPPV), process of paper application for a certain public office and other transactions using public funds. “Lahat ng government offices ay may official website dahil umaayon tayo dun sa prinsipyo ng transparency (All government agencies have official website in accordance with the principle of transparency),” said Coloma. The FOI bill is a proposed law that mandates government agencies to disclose procedures and public documents to the public.
