Homegrown mixed martial arts fighter Eduard “The Landslide” Folayang said he is not bothered by the hard-hitting prowess of former flyweight champion Japanese-Korean Kotetsu “No Face” Boku, which he will face on May 2 in One Fighting Championship: Rise of Heroes at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Folayang, 29,who holds a13-4 win-loss record, said that he’s expecting the 36-year-old Boku (21-9-2 win-loss-draw card) to fight in an aggressive manner.
“I will win the match no matter what. I will do my best since I’m in a good fighting condition,” Folayang, a former sanshou fighter, told The Manila Times. “Boku is also a stand-up fighter and a kickboxer. He is good in that position, but I’m not bothered.”
Folayang, a former teacher in Baguio City, suffered a frustrating loss against Iranian wrestler Kamal Shalorus in 2013. In December, Folayang made a comeback by beating Vincent Latoel in One FC’s Moment of Truth via unanimous decision.
Boku, who fought for K-1 and Cage Force won the One FC lightweight belt from Zorobabel Moreira in 2012 but absorbed a loss through rear naked choke from Shinya Aoki on April 2013 in Singapore. He lost again against South African Vuyisile Colossa via unanimous decision. Boku bounced back after scoring a technical knockout win over Arnaud Lepont in One FC Malaysia in March.
