FORD Phils. announced it had carried on its 2013 record sales momentum in January as it grew 31 percent year-on-year with 1,076 vehicles moved—the company’s best January performance.
Ford said the result came amid “strong demand” for the Ford Ranger, updated Fiesta and Explorer models.
The Ranger emerged as its best-seller with sales in January soaring 130 percent year-on-year to 409 units, Ford said, noting that the Ranger Wildtrak was recognized as the 2013-2014 Truck of the Year and Best 4X4 Pickup Truck by the Car Awards Group Inc. (Cagi).
“Strong demand across the country proves how much Filipino consumers admire the class-defining all-new Ranger, and we’re proud of the recognition by Cagi as it highlights our passion and commitment to reach more new-to-Ford customers in the Philippines,” said Ford Phils. Managing Director Kay Hart.
Ford said sales of the Fiesta jumped 47 percent, or 245 units, in January as “healthy demand” for the model’s 1.0L EcoBoost variant bolstered the tally. The company cited that Ford’s EcoBoost technology helped the car’s downsized 1.0-liter engine to deliver the power and performance of a traditional 1.6-liter power plant while ensuring fuel economy gains of up to 20 percent.
The Fiesta Titanium Sedan was named the 2013-2014 Premium Subcompact of the Year by Cagi, according to Ford.
It added that the Ford Focus remained strong in January with sales reaching 82 units.
Ford said its SUVs contributed to January’s performance, with the company delivering 115 Explorers and 196 Ford Everests.
Ford in January also unveiled the new EcoSport compact SUV. Deliveries of the model will start in April.
Pricing for four variants of the EcoSport, which is powered by a 1.5-liter Ti-VCT engine that bolts on to either an automatic transmission or a manual transmissions, range from P775,000 to P975,000. The model is available for test drives at SM Mall of Asia from February 28 to March 2, and at SM Cebu on March 21 to 23.
