Ford Philippines on Friday announced a continued jump in its sales from January to August this year.
According to the car company’s figures, its overall sales increased from 4,663 units for the first eight months of 2012 to 8,360 of the same period this year, for a 79-percent jump.
Meanwhile, on a year-over-year monthly comparison, Ford sales also climbed by almost half, selling 826 units versus the August 2012’s 574 units rolled out, showing a 44-percent rise.
Kay Hart, Ford Philippines managing director, said that despite the bad weather last month, vehicle buyers showed interest toward the company’s full lineup.
“Despite the impact of the heavy monsoon season in August, we continued to see strong interest for our full lineup of segment-leading Ford vehicles at showrooms across the country, helping further drive our performance this year,” Hart said.
Leading the sales was the all-new Ranger, with 323 units sold in August, with overall year-to-date sales reaching 2,774 units.
“The unmatched versatility and capability of this extraordinary truck is helping drive its wide appeal among our expanding base of customers in the Philippines,” Hart said.
Furthermore, the Ford Everest family sport utility vehicle generated sales of 167 units in August, driving year-to-date sales to 1,726 units.
A total of 99 units of Ford Explorer were rolled out, contributing to its year-to-date sales of 690 units.
Ford’s cars also contributed to the positive performance last month.
The all-new Ford Focus delivered sales of 76 units in August, for year-to-date sales of 677 units.
A total of 284 units of the Ford Mustang sports car have been sold all in all since its launch, as 13 more units were rolled out last month.
The new Ford Fiesta, which was launched last month, is believed to remain one of the leaders in the small car segment, Hart said.
“We are absolutely confident the new Fiesta will remain one of the clear leaders of the small car segment by delivering an unmatched combination of fuel efficiency, safety and smart technologies—helping further drive its popularity in the Philippines and we look forward to its first full month of sales in September,” she said.
Last month, Ford launched the new Fiesta featuring the global 1.5L Ti-VCT engine. The new Ford Fiesta is available in eight variants, in five-door hatchback and four-door sedan models.
Meanwhile, Ford Philippines is set to open Ford General Santos, the 10th new dealer to open in less than a year.
