Ford Philippines, the local arm of Michigan-based Ford Motor Co., saw a 78-percent increase in its May sales to 2,933 units from a year earlier.
The robust growth was led by strong customer demand for its “big three” vehicles in the Philippines: Ranger, Everest, and EcoSport.
The 78 percent is one of the highest growth of Ford Philippines after its “all time high” monthly sales the previous month when the auto firm recorded a 93 percent year-on- year growth.
Ford Philippines said sales year-to-date sales improved by 63 percent to 13,961 units year-on-year.
“We continued to build on our momentum since the start of the year, allowing us to make further progress in the Philippines. With our expanding line-up of global Ford vehicles in our showrooms across the country, we are reaching out to even more customers and further widening our brand appeal,” said Lance Mosely, Ford Philippines managing director.
The May sales were boosted by the 1,069 units of the all-new Everest. Year-to-date, Ford sold 5,907 units of the mid-sized SUV model.
For the EcoSport, Ford said sales were up 56 percent to 848 units. In January to May, the total sales of compact SUV reached 3,515 units.
Sales of the Ranger pickup truck increased to 786 units, while year-to-date sales reached 3,343 units.
Other model units saw positive sales. For the Explorer SUV sales rose by 24 percent to 73 units, while the Ford Fiesta with the 1.0L EcoBoost engine totaled 91 units in May and 389 units year-to-date,
