Former Caraga police officer charged for alleged solicitation

The Office of the Ombudsman has filed breach of conduct charges before the Sandiganbayan against former Caraga Police Senior Supt. Rodolfo Dasmariñas after he allegedly demanded and received money from a fellow policeman in Butuan City in 2011. Dasmariñas is facing a charge for violation of Section 7 (d) of Republic Act 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees that prohibits public officials from soliciting or accepting any gift, favor, entertainment, or anything of monetary value from anyone in the course of their official duties. Investigation alleged Dasmariñas, as Summary Hearing Officer of the Administrative Disciplinary Authority of the Police Regional Office 13 (Caraga), “did then and there willfully, unlawfully and criminally solicit and receive P3,000 as monetary consideration from Police Senior Inspector Benny Esparagoza.”
