• Former DepEd official faces raps for failing to remit GSIS premiums

Former Department of Education (DepEd) official Leovigilda Cinches faces charges for allegedly failing to timely remit the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) premiums of teachers and employees from DepEd-Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) amounting to P232.9 million. Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales denied the appeal of Cinches, former officer-in-charge of the Office of the Regional Secretary of DepEd-ARMM, and affirmed the finding of probable cause against her in an order released to the public on Tuesday. Cinches faces graft charges and 15 counts of violation of the GSIS Act. She was also found guilty by the Ombudsman of Grave Misconduct and was ordered dismissed.
