Former Iloilo Rep. Janette Garin takes oath as new DOH undersecretary


It’s official. Over a month after her appointment, former Iloilo Representative Janette Garin took oath in Malacañang early this week as the newly appointed undersecretary of the Department of Health.

The Reproductive Health advocate who belongs to a political family in Iloilo was appointed by President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino 3rd for her knowledge as a medical practitioner.

According to the president “Her knowledge on both as a medical professional and as a legislator will greatly help the efficiency of the DOH’s programs,” Aquino said.

The former congresswoman who is an ally of Aquino graduated cum laude at the Divine World University in Tacloban City, with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology. She was also an academic scholar at the St. Luke’s College of Medicine while serving as board member in the Leyte province.
