Cali was a PXC light flyweight champion from 2012 to 2013. He defeated Jessie Taitano of Guam via third round technical knockout on February 18, 2012 then defended his title against compatriot Erwin Tagle via third round technical knockout on November 17, 2012.
The 24-year-old Cali, known for his fast reflexes and accurate punches, lost his title to Louis Smolka on November 9, 2013 via third round technical knockout. He also lost his last fight against fellow Filipino fighter Ernesto Montilla via first round submission (armbar).
The former professional boxer, who also had a brief stint with the ALA boxing promotion, ended his mixed martial arts’ win-loss record to 5-3.
“I don’t know yet the whole story. All I know is that Ale Cali is a good friend of mine, very humble and a very good person,” described by fellow MMA fighter Rolando Gabriel Dy in his facebook account. “Whoever did this or whoever paid someone to do this, you will pay for this.”
“He is good person and a pride of Davao City,” he added.
