The renovation of one of the oldest churches in the Philippines, the Sta. Rosa de Lima Parish in Annafunan West in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan province, will be completed in time for its 100th anniversary celebration in 2015.
The renovation of the church was made possible with the help of the Wong Chu King Foundation (WCKF), which committed to parish priest Fr. Fredel Agatep to retrofit the church with a new roof and trusses within the year and replace the ceiling by the first quarter of 2015.
The Wong Chu King Foun-dation’s silver anniversary will be held at the Sta. Rosa de Lima Parish in March 30, 2015. A turnover ceremony will be led by Archbishop Sergio L. Utleg of the Archdiocese of Tuguegarao.
“I would like to thank the Wong Chu King family, their staff and the foundation for granting my wish to have this parish renovated, to better serve the people of Cagayan,” Fr. Agatep said.
The WCKF will also be visiting Naga for a gift-giving program in all barangays in Naga City in coordination with the Archdiocese of Caceres.
“The Wong Chu King Foun-dation certainly delivers what it pledges,” said Msgr. Rodel Cajot, Rector of the Basilica Minore of Our Lady of Peñafrancia and the Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Caceres.
