L’ Arc en Ciel Atelier’s outstanding artists Alfred Galura, Stella Kim, Sky de Leon and Connie Quirino will be featured in an exhibition titled Homage to the Masters and Recent Works opening today at the ArtistSpace in Ayala Museum, Makati City.
Together, they will pay tribute to their local and international influences by showcasing contemporary paintings rendered in the techniques reminiscent of their masters.
Galura’s exquisite still life tableaux of porcelain, flowers, and laces are a joy to behold. With the kind of meticulous art that he creates, viewers will surely be bewildered on how such intricacies can be rendered so magnificently in watercolor. Included in the show are landscapes of his home province of Pampanga and its environs.
Kim returns to the Manila audience after further honing her skills in San Francisco with the Sadie Valeri Atelier, where she studied for the last two years. The exhibition includes her oeuvre from her two-year stint in the atelier, notable for the thin layers of paint used to attain the excellent finish of every canvas.
De Leon is presently in Florence to attend the spring workshop of Jura Bedic titled “Figures in Interior Setting” conducted by the Florence Academy of Art. At a very young age of 15, he was accepted by the school after seeing his promising portfolio. He is an achiever in La Salle and is a gold medalist both for academic excellence and in art. He pays tribute to Fra Filippo Lippi with his interpretation of the Madonna.
Quirino has developed her own unique style in painting. Before she joined L’ Arc en CielAtelier, her first mentor was National Artist for Visual Arts Federico Aguilar Alcuaz. In this exhibition, she paints three tributes to Vincent Van Gogh, one of her favorite impressionist masters.
Running until May 31, the exhibit is presented by L’ Arc en Ciel Atelier and ArtistSpace.
