Freddie Aguilar faces qualified seduction charges

Local music legend Freddie Aguilar faces qualified seduction charges after Atty. Fernando Perito filed a complaint before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday.

Perito, who is said to be a member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, filed a two-page complaint against Aguilar, who has publicly admitted to be in love and in a relationship with a 16-year old.

The lawyer also believes that the relationship is merely sexual in nature, calling Aguilar a “sex hungry predator” and a “cradle snatcher” for pursuing his five-month old relationship with the teenager.

In his complaint, he said Aguilar “deserves to be castrated to spare the children” and that the singer “wants to take advantage of the adulation of the child by pretending to be loving her and allegedly marrying her later.”

Perito referred to Aguilar as an “old man” who took advantage of his popularity to attract a girl old enough to be his granddaughter. He said his fame influenced the child’s decision to be with Aguilar.

“The offender, an old man has an authority and moral influence over the child because of his popularity. And he must have devirginized her already every now and then.”

In an interview with dzMM Teleradyo on Thursday afternoon, Aguilar said he is ready to face charges if there is one, saying that he will follow the law in case they are ordered to separate until his girlfriend is of legal age.

Kung meron po, bakit hindi ko haharapin? Kung hindi ko haharapin ‘yan, parang tinanggap ko na tama ‘yung ginagawa nila,” Aguilar said in the interview.

He defended his relationship with the young girl, saying that the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has already spoken with the girl’s parents in Oriental Mindoro and gave their approval and support of their relationship.

In his recent public revelations, Aguilar admitted that he plans to wed the 16-year old girl in two years when she turns 18, and also to build a family of their own.

In the Revised Penal Code of the Philippine Constitution, qualified seduction falls under Article 337 which states that “The seduction of a virgin over 12 years and under 18 years of age, committed by any person in public authority, priest, home-servant, domestic, guardian, teacher, or any person who, in any capacity, shall be entrusted with the education or custody of the woman seduced.”
