La French Tech, a group of French entrepreneurs which aims to promote growth of information technology start-ups locally and internationally, is adding Manila as one of its hubs globally.
The group has developed startup hubs in San Francisco, Barcelona, London, New York, Sao Paulo, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Tel Aviv and Cape Town.
Last month, French Ambassador Thierry Mathou launched La French Tech Philippines with 22 entrepreneurs joining the group.
The group is spearheaded by entrepreneurs, investors, engineers, designers, developers, associations, conglomerates, media, government agencies who aim to promote growth of IT startups, locally and internationally.
“The Philippines is an attractive venue for entrepreneurs worldwide. Being a traditional exporter of electronic components whose people have acquired a strong technical and IT background, the Philippine environment is a naturally favorable site for those who want to develop IT and tech business,” said La French Tech Philippines.
“French entrepreneurs are attracted to the highly skilled workforce in the Philippines and Filipinos proficiency with languages,” it added.
Furthermore, French startup accelerator WeCube Inc. will be opening in Makati City its working space and will be operating an incubator to boost the startup ecosystem in the country.
WeCube will also provide mentorship, coaching, network as well as enabling traction and access to funding or advisory on fund raising.
“The initiative shall indeed favor the networking of talents and encourage entrepreneurship among them, thereby creating a synergy whose common goal is to contribute to develop opportunities, creativity, attract more entrepreneurs and investors while also positioning France on a path to become a major tech and innovation partner of the Philippines,” La French Tech Philippines Ambassador Thierry Tea said.
La French Tech Philippines will participate in SlingshotPH 2016, a national summit on startups and innovation organized by the Department of Trade and Industry.
