Mayor Jaime Fresnedi took his oath as Mayor of Muntinlupa City Thursday before Metropolitan Trial Court Judge Chelsea Segunda Dirige at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex in Tunasan.
Various officials attended the ceremony, including Rep. Ruffino Biazon, Vice Mayor Celso Dioko, District 1 Councilors Louie Arciaga, Ivee Arciaga, Patricio Boncayao Jr., Allan Camilon, Alex Diaz, Bal Niefes, Phanie Teves and Ringo Teves, District 2 Councilors Tintin Abas, Dhesiree Arevalo, Lester Baes, Lucio Constantino, Grace Gonzaga, Marissa Rongavilla, Rafael “Raffy” Sevilla, and Victor Ulanday.
Some 3,000 residents trooped to the sports center to show their support to Fresnedi and his administration.
In his inaugural speech, Fresnedi vowed to upgrade education, health care, livelihood, public service and good governance.
Prior to his inauguration, Fresnedi led the blessing of the Muntinlupa City Resiliency Building, a state-of-the-art structure that can withstand a magnitude 7.2 earthquake and set to be the command center of the city’s rescue operations.
The mayor also attended the blessing of the newly constructed P119 million three-storey building located at Susana Heights, Tunasan, a joint project of the city government and the Office of former Congressman Rodolfo Biazon.
Muntinlupa City Resiliency Building is set to house the city’s command center — a centralized surveillance and emergency response system for operations during disasters, crime prevention, and traffic monitoring.
The local executive said that by the end of 2016, CCTV cameras will be installed in the city’s major thoroughfares and by 2019, the command center will be fully operational.
Some of the offices that will be housed in the building are: Muntinlupa City Disaster Risk Response and Management Office, Rescue Department, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and Metropolitan Trial Court Training Rooms. All rescue vehicles of the city will be stationed at the Resiliency Building.
Court Administrator Midas Marquez also attended the event and praised Fresnedi for making room for additional five trial courts in the Resiliency Building. He lauded the coordination of the local executive and Biazon for infusing the justice system in Muntinlupa.
