After their last concert in 2004 at the Philippine International Convention Center, the American rhythm and blues/soul band Friends of Distinction (FOD) returns to Manila for a celebration of groove and nostalgia tonight at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

This time, FOD will grace the stage with Ted Mills of Blue Magic as the band’s special guest.

Harry Elstor, FOD’s founder, leader and composer said that despite being in the country for two earlier concerts, he is still much excited to perform in front of the Manila audience because of Filipinos’ warm welcome.

“You all love good music, you sing good music and you respect good music. And we respect that. I’m not just saying that because I am with you now. If you look at some of my prior interviews, I said the Filipino audience is the most loyal fans that we have and I mean that. We’ve got about 10 or 12 songs here that you liked so much, which in the US weren’t happening. So we love that,” Elstor told The Manila Times during an interview on Wednesday.

Among the Filipino favorites that FOD will perform include “Grazin’ In The Grass,” “Going in Circles,” “Ain’t No Woman,” “Check It Out,” “Why Did I Lose You Baby,” “The Way We Planned It,” and “Great Day”—the last three of which were in included in the country’s Top 10 hits.

Mills, on the other hand, will provide Motown music from Blue Magic’s long list of hit songs like “Just Don’t Wanna Be Lonely,” “Slideshow,” “Stop to Start,” “Spell,” “What’s Come Over Me,” and “Magic of the Blue” among others.

‘Friends of Distinction Back-to-Back with Ted Wizard Mills of the Blue Magic’ is presented by GMA Netwrok, Steve O’Neal Productions and the Pilgrimates.
