MIIS students received Certificate of Appreciation and customized Animalaya cards after handing out their donation to Haribon

A group of Grade 11 students from Multiple Intelligence International School (MIIS) recently visited Haribon Foundation’s office to personally hand out their hard earned donation. Because of their passion and tenacity, the children gathered enough contribution to join Haribon’s program Road to 2020’s Adopt-A-Plot, which is equivalent to 30 native seedlings. The said program is a part of Haribon’s rainforestation efforts in denuded forests around the Philippines.

With the assistance of their families and friends, these youngsters prepared the sweet delicacies to be retailed in their fundraising drive. Determined to achieve their vision in helping the environment, the young entrepreneurs went from classroom to classroom, fervently encouraging their fellow students to buy their baked goods or contribute from their lunch money for the good cause.

For P300 per seedling, the fee includes three-year nurturing and monitoring of the restoration site by partner communities to ensure the seedlings’ high survival rate and an electronic or printed postcard featuring various Philippine biodiversity.

MIIS played a major hand in fostering altruism and awareness in environmental protection so its students will be inspired to take action. Each year they pick an organization to support and this year, they chose Haribon for its several biodiversity conservation efforts in the country.

One of the students, Sophia Buenviaje said, “We are happy that we can be a part of Haribon’s program and we hope that our donation can make a difference in mitigating climate change.” Laarni Jocson, Haribon Foundation’s Communications & Information Specialist
