Recalling Minda Feliciano’s exes Michael Cain, Tony Bennet, and her glittering circle of friends at her homecoming

Year after year, London-based jetsetter Minda Feliciano Lonsdale would visit Manila and stay for a month or two. This year, though, she broke her annual tradition—one she makes to renew her connection with relatives and long time friends—for a more memorable homecoming; for the first time since her childhood days, Minda spent her birthday in the Philippines.

Minda is a Hollywood celebrity whose marriage to a Hollywood producer in her younger days, and relationships with her live in partner British actor Michael Cain and with singer Tony Bennett all became the talk of the town. Not only that, Minda has enjoyed the company the rich and famous as her circle of friends included James Bond actor Roger Moore, Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, Danny Kaye, Andy Williams, Jack Palance and a lot of other celebrities. One of her best friends is Joan Collins.

Finally, she married British Lord Norman Lonsdale—once a fiancé of Princess Margaret—who not only gifted her with a beautiful yacht but also named it after her. The noble couple used M/Y MINDA to cruise around France, Italy, the Mediterranean and Baltic seas.

Minda’s latest birthday celebration in Manila was gift of her good friend Manuela Mueller, former editor of Harper’s Bazaar Germany and a Goldie Hawn look-alike. The latter flew all the way from Miami where she now resides to be at the former’s birthday.

The jetsetter invited about 50 of her longtime and newfound friends. Held at the Caruso Ristorante Italiano, guests enjoyed the best Italian specialties and overflowing champagne. And as with any gracious hostess, she made sure no one ran out out of drinks.

Besides good food and wines, entertainment was overflowing too with the presence of top entertainers Arthur Manuntag who cheekily serenaded Minda with Tony Bennett songs, actor Ricky Davao, Muebles Italiano’s Noel Gonzales, the good-looking Victor Silverio, and ever-exotic Gela Cornilessen. Even Minda’s nephew Noel Tanada rendered a song for her.

Minda’s long time friend Conrad Calalang as well as the Oreta sisters, Atty. Rissa and Carmela, were all present. To the celebrant’s delight, Governor Chavit Singson made a surprise appearance before the evening ended.

Caruso owner Emilio Mina sang several Italian songs. Ditto Dr. George Sarakinis who acted as the emcee of the party.

It was truly an unforgettable evening for Minda so much so that she promised to celebrate her next birthday in Manila again. Cheers!
