With famed comediennes replete in ABS-CBN—from Pokwang to Melai Cantiveros, and even the likes of sisters Toni and Cathy Gonzaga—top network executive Linggit Tan zeroed in on the network’s need for a new breed of male comics. That was the impetus of what became the highly successful search of the “Funny One,” a segment within the daily afternoon program It’s Showtime, which may just have discovered TV’s new breed of comedians.
