Music has been an intrinsic part of the Filipino way of life through the ages, and captures the soul of the people as sung and performed by the country’s artists.

This musicality takes center stage as Fusion 2015: The     First Philippine Music Festival unfolds on January 30, 2015 at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds in Pasay City, gathering the country’s top artists to celebrate the timeless and global appeal of Original Pilipino Music (OPM). “Music is in the heart and soul of every Filipino, especially the youth, and it is for this reason we are putting the spotlight on the beauty of OPM and the musical talent of our gifted Filipino artist in one festival,” said Gladys Basinillo, Fusion project director and CEO of Carat Philippines, which is set to produce the notable concert.

Headlining the music marathon are Filipino music icons Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo, Rico Blanco, Noel Cabangon, and Joey Ayala, featuring Andrew E., Gloc9, Ebe Dancel, Tres Marias, Kitchie Nadal, and Barbie Almalbis.

Top bands such as The Dawn, Parokya ni Edgar, Kamikazee, Wolfgang, Sandwich, and 6 Cyclemind have also pledged their participation.

Basinillo said they chose “Fusion” as the festival title because of the unique blend of genres, which will cut across various age groups of Filipino music lovers.

“This festival is not just another musical event, but a movement for the next generations who we hope will continue to patronize and promote the legacy and future of OPM, despite foreign influences brought about by globalization,” Basinillo further enthused.

She and her team envision the concert to become one of Asia’s most sought-after musical events, along the lines of the United States’ Coachella, Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival, Indonesia’s Java Jazz Fest, and Malaysia’s Rainforest World Music Festival.

“We hope to put the country in the world’s music tourism map, especially in observance of the Visit Philippines Year 2015,” Basinillo concluded.

Fusion has the full support of Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-Aawit, Filipino Society of Composers, Artists and Publishers Inc., and various record labels led by Viva Entertainment’s Viva Music Group.

Tickets are available at Ticket World, SM Tickets      and Ticket Net.  For more information, log on to www.facebook.com/page/fusion.
