We were able to attend the opening of the photo exhibit of a brilliant artist named Niccolo Cosme at the Picasso Room of the Vivere Hotel in Alabang last week.
Niccolo is the son of gag writer and director Cesar Cosme who works in GMA Network programs like “Bubble Gang.”
The photo exhibit, titled “Beauty That Moves,” features images that are embedded in portraits through reality technology. The ongoing conflict in Mindanao inspired the collaborating artists to create images that speak of calmness, hope and peace amid terror and bloodshed.
All proceeds of the sales of the art will go to the psychosocial peace-building activities for children affected by the conflict in Mindanao.
According to Niccolo, it was his dad who introduced him to photography as a young boy and he was hooked instantly. Even if he has met many celebrities, including comedy king Dolphy in the course of his father’s job, he never really gravitated towards being in showbiz. He gave it a try by being a part of the defunct teen program “That’s Entertainment” though.
Niccolo’s mom, on the other hand, is the daughter of Chit Sambile, a former entertainment writer and former FAMAS president.
Again, despite his deep roots in showbiz, Niccolo shines on his own as a very pro-active visual artist, even exhibiting his photographs in New York a few years ago.

GUESS WHO? A film producer rues that some stars are uncooperative when it comes to promoting their movies.
“Hindi naman kasi sila bayad sa promo,” said someone in the know. But isn’t promoting the movie part of an actor’s job? If a star doesn’t want to cooperate in the promotion, and the movie tanks at the box-office, who is to blame?
