Top cyclist Mark Galedo will be leading the 7-Eleven Road Bike Philippines team in the 2017 Herald Sun Tour scheduled in in Melbourne, Australia.
The 2015 Le Tour de Filipinas champion wants to make the Filipino community in Australia proud when the race fires off on February 1.
“This is an exciting tournament for me. I will be racing against some of the world’s top riders and that will give me some motivation to win for our country,” said the 31-year-old continental Philippine captain.
Among the top ranking players seeing action in the five-day race are Esteban Chavez and Chris Foome.
Galedo, who finished first during the 2016 Tour of Guam, believes that focus and discipline are the keys to succeed in the competition.
“Every athlete should possess that qualities – there is no any age exception,” he added.
Galedo and the rest of the 7-Eleven Sava Road Bike Philippines members will have a holiday break before resuming their rigid training in January.
The team will compete first in the New Zealand Cycle Classic on January 22 as part of its buildup before plunging into action in the Herald Sun Tour race.
