AutoChina Inc., the exclusive distributor of China carmaker Geely in the Philippines, on Saturday unveiled two of their latest vehicles in the country.
During its soft launching on September 7, Autochina General Manager Glen Tacardon announced that the company has opened its reservations for its latest offerings, the Emgrand EX7 and EC8.
Tacardon said that the two new vehicles on the lineup would arrive in the country by mid-October, and are scheduled to be showcased in the Cebu and Davao dealerships before year ends.
The Emgrand EX7 is a mid-size sports utility vehicle (SUV), which according to Tacardon, boasts of better dimensions than its competitors in the market. He said that with its wheelbase of 2,661 millimeters, its size in between the mid-size and full-size SUV.
Providing power for it is the 4-cylinder, 16-valve engine mated to either 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.
It comes in two variants: the 2.0-liter MT GL for the manual transmission and the 2.4-liter AT GT for the automatic transmission.
Meanwhile, the Emgrand EC8 is Geely’s full-size sedan which bids—Tacardon said—to revive the luxury car segment on a lower price range.
“The Emgrand EC8 is a full-size sedan, but is offered in quarter of the price of its competitors in the market,” he said.
‘We are bringing it here because in the mainstream automotive market, it has become a lost model. We believe that there are only a few car manufacturers and importers selling a full-size sedan, so we are trying to tap on this lost type,” he said.
Furthermore, Tacardon said that the target market for the two new vehicle models are the “young professionals who are starting atop the career ladder.”
The standard retail price for the EC8 is P1.185 million, while the prices for the EX7 are at P998,000 for the 2.0 manual transmission and P1.168 for the 2.4 automatic transmission.
