Geely unveils two new vehicles for PH lineup

AutoChina Inc., the exclusive distributor of China carmaker Geely in the Philippines, on Saturday has unveiled two of their latest vehicles in the country.

During its soft launching last September 7, Autochina General Manager Glen Tacardon announced that it has opened its reservations for the latest offering, the Emgrand EX7 and EC8.

Tacardon said that the two vehicle additionals on their lineup would arrive the country by mid October and would schedule to showcase those on their Cebu and Davao dealerships before yearend.

The Emgrand EX7 is a midsize SUV, which according to Tacardon, boasts better dimensions than its competitors in the market. He said that with its wheelbase of 2,661 millimeters, it is in between the midsize and full size SUV.

Providing power for it is the 4 cylinder, 16-valve CVVT, MPI, mated to either 5 speed manual or 6 speed automatic transmission.

It comes in two variants: the 2.0 liter MT GL for the manual transmission and the 2.4 liter AT GT for the automatic transmission.

Meanwhile, the Emgrand EC8 is Geely’s full size sedan which bids–Tacardon said–to revive the luxury car segment on a lower price range.

“The Emgrand EC8 is a full size sedan, but is offered in quarter of the price of its competitors in the market,” he said.

“We are bringing it here because in the mainstream automotive market, it has become a lost model. We believe that there are only a few car manufacturers and importers selling a full size sedan, so we are trying to tap on this lost type,” Tacardon added.

Further, Tacardon said that the target market for the two are the “young professionals who are starting atop the career ladder.”

The standard retail price for the EC8, which would come in ONE TYPE / three variants is P1.185 million while the EX7 is at P 998,000 for the  2.0 manual transmission and P1.168 for the 2.4 automatic transmission. RUBEN D. MANAHAN 4TH
