    on troops wounded in Marawi

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Armed Forces Chief Eduardo Año pinned medals on 40 soldiers undergoing treatment at the Army station hospital here, a spokesman said on Wednesday.

Capt. Joe Patrick Martinez of the Army’s 4th Infantry Division said the 40 soldiers were among the 90 who were confined at the largest Army station hospital in Northern Mindanao.

He said that the President had pinned medals on the first 50 who were wounded in action in Marawi City during his visit here at Camp Evangelista.

Aside from pinning the medals on the wounded soldiers, Año also distributed medical equipment and logistical support to the hospital, Martinez said.

According to Martinez, 829 soldiers have been treated since the war broke out in Marawi last May 23.

Martinez said that some of the soldiers have returned to the front lines after recovering from their injuries.

Before Camp Evangelista, Año went to Marawi to personally assess the situation and held a command conference with top military commanders at Camp Amai Pakpak, an Army camp of the 1st Infantry Division there.
