GENERAL SANTOS CITY: A print journalist, the son of a local publisher was arrested in a drug sting by narcotic agents acting on tips from vigilant members of the media here.
Gil Cesario Castro, director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-12) on Saturday said Richard Cordova Basilio, 42, was caught in the act of selling P500 worth of shabu to a police poseur buyer.
Sources from the media community here told The Manila Times that Basilio, a writer and photographer, works for his father, Mario Basilio, publisher of a local newspaper.
The older Basilio is president of the General Santos City Tri-Media Association, according to his colleagues and officials of the Police Regional Office-12.
The PDEA-12, in an initial report, said Basilio is a “media practitioner” residing at Barangay City Heights.
Meanwhile, Tony Magbanua Pabilona, 42, alleged supplier of shabu to Basilio, was also arrested in a follow up operation after about two hours on Thursday.
PDEA-12 agents found an undetermined amount of shabu in the house of Pabilona in Barangay Calumpang, also in General Santos City.
