The singing sensation that is Gerphil Flores continues to shine in many stages across the Philippines since her second runner-up win at the first Asia’s Got Talent search based in Singapore in 2015.

On April 18, her “silken voice” will serenade the metro’s music lovers anew as she headlines Marco Polo Ortigas Manila’ first grand affair dubbed Silken “Voices, Silken Roads: An Opera Gala Dinner.” She will perform alongside noted tenor Francisco Aseniero and select members of the Philippine Opera Company in what is sure to be a memorable night of exquisite melodies.

Held to celebrate the international hotel chain’s second anniversary in the country, the musical gala will also feature a sumptuous dinner and a high fashion runway show as previewed on March 30 at Marco Polo’s Vu Sky Lounge.

On hand to welcome members of the lifestyle press corps was Marco Polo Ortigas General Manager Frank Reichenbach who said the concept of the gala was in fact inspired by the great traveler and merchandiser, Marco Polo, and his journey down the Silk Road.

“This is the first grand affair we are organizing here after our opening two years ago. And we hope can we take you to the time when Marco Polo traveled the Silk Road from Italy, to the Middle East and India, and to China,” he said, adding that they plan to make the event an annual affair from hereon.

With that, Flores and Aseniero took to the stage to sing a wonderful repertoire of the “Lakme Bell Song,” “Kashmir,” and “Turandot Liu Aria,” as Neapolitan classics, “Funiculi Funicula” and “O sole Mio.”

As they serenaded the select gathering, a sampling of the gala’s menu was also laid out, which served as a food trip of Marco Polo’s exciting journey.

A veritable feast, the dinner starts off with the finest cold cuts from the West and the Middle East, including Carpaccio and Meze; Executive chef Lluis Pesarrodona’s take on the kebab and Italy’s pastas; and Chinese chef Ken Leung’s specialty seafood dishes. For dessert, the classic gelato is the perfect ending.

As for the runway show, top designer Renee Salud will show his latest collection of opulent evening gowns, which certainly become dreamier with the music of such talented artists.
