The Gerry’s Group of companies has acquired a franchise of popular food chain Ramen Sora and is set to open two branches next month in Subic and Cebu.
The popular ramen house, which originated in Sapporo, Hokaido in the northernmost island of Japan, is the restaurant group’s fourth brand after Gerry’s Restaurant and Bar, Kusina ng Gerry’s, and Sweet Chili, a Thai restaurant.
“The first (Ramen Sora) branch will be opened along Waterfront Road in Subic and a couple of weeks after we will launch the second branch along A.S. Fortuna Street in Mandaue City, Cebu. We believe that with the influx of tourists in those areas Ramen Sora will best suit these markets,” said Gerry Apolinario, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Gerry’s Group of companies.
Apolinario added that Ramen Sora will also open branches in Metro Manila. The company hopes to expand to five more locations by 2015.
Ramen Sora also has franchisees in Las Vegas, Nevada and Australia.
The rebranded Gerry’s Restaurant and Bar, which dropped the word ‘Grill’ from its name, recently opened its renovated branch at the ground level of Ali Mall in Quezon City.
The branch is the second renovated outlet after Tacloban, which resumed operations in June or seven months after typhoon Yolanda struck Eastern Visayas.
Gerry’s Restaurant and Bar’s new outlets include SM Malolos in Bulacan, Ayala Terraces Fairview, Naga, Iligan, Cauayan City in Isabela, Tuguegarao City in Cagayan, and Fisher Mall along Quezon Avenue in Quezon City.
In the next two months Gerry’s Restaurant and Bar is scheduled to open three more branches: SM Sta. Mesa, Antipolo, and Las Pinas. It hopes to close the year with 70 outlets, with three overseas branches in the US, Singapore and Qatar.
Meanwhile, Kusina ng Gerry’s, a do-it-yourself restaurant, is also set to open in Talisay, Cebu.
“Cebu’s impressive progress has been spreading from the city to nearby towns. Many tourists especially Koreans, visit Gerry’s Restaurant and Bar in our Ayala and SM branches,” added Apolinario.
In June this year, Gerry’s Group of companies launched Sweet Chili, located at the upper ground level of Fisher Mall.
