“Dream. Believe. Survive again.”
Starstruck, the well-loved, most-admired, and most-credible original artista search on television, is back and is all set to discover the next “Ultimate Survivors” beginning September 7 on GMA Network.
The new season is hosted by GMA Primetime King Dingdong Dantes and Miss World 2013 and Starstruck Season 2 Avenger Megan Young.
For Dingdong, he is excited for the return of the show and admits that Starstruck has a very special place in his heart. It is for this reason that is very happy to return to the program.
“More than 10 years na siya, ang dami nang mga buhay ang na-touch ng Starstruck, especially mine. At proud ako to be part of it so that whenever something like this is born again, siyempre I would like to be part of it,” said Dingdong who recently concluded his prime time series Pari Ko’y. He is now eager for the arrival of his first born with wife Marian Rivera.
“Being able to have the chance to witness the journey of the contenders is a humbling experience for me. Starstruck opened a lot of opportunities for me. And now that I’m one of the hosts, I’m excited to guide them to reach their dreams,” shared Megan who is equally excited about the search’s newest season. As the star of Marimar, the actress and beauty queen feels blessed with the projects and opportunities the network is giving her these days.
Giving daily updates on hopefuls’ series of artista challenges is a roster of Starstruck alumni. They are Season 1 Ultimate Male Survivor Mark Herras, Season 5 Second Prince Rocco Nacino, Starstruck Kids First Prince Miguel Tanfelix, and Season 4 Ultimate Female Survivor Kris Bernal, who will also be the show’s social media correspondent. All four talents are now part of GMA Network’s prized artists.
The Council, who will serve as judges, is comprised of award-winning actress Jennylyn Mercado, TV Host and comedian Joey de Leon, and Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, together with Dingdong.
For Regine, she expressed excitement for it will be her first time to serve as judge, despite always being part of reality competitions.
“Normally, [sa]mga contest, I’m usually hosting it, so it’s my first time to be a judge . . . I’m also happy to be part of the whole process kasi kumbaga, nakasalalay sa aming tatlo ‘yung pagpili ng susunod nating artista o superstar so medyo may pressure ng konti but at the same time, it’s very exciting,” she said.
On how she will judge the contestants, she shared, “”It’s not naman in my personality to be mean, but I think puwede naman ako mag-critique in such a way na they won’t naman feel bad. Importante din ‘yun kasi how will they know kung saan sila bagay o kung saan sila nagkakamali o kung ano ‘yung dapat nilang i-improve.”
For his part, Joey admitted that he is looking for the next Yaya Dub. “Si Yaya Dub, ano ba naman, nagda-Dubsmash lang, pero ang lakas ng dating. So ‘yun, didiretsuhin ko na. Ang hinahanap ko sa StarStruck ay ‘yung malakas ang dating. Kung sino ang malakas ang dating, ‘yun ang pagtutuunan ko ng pansin. Tapos saka natin hahanapin kung ano pa puwedeng mabigay niya as far as entertaining people is concerned,” he explained.
Starstruck will premiere on Monday and will air weekdays before 24 Oras on GMA Network.
