FORD Phils. Last week revealed the latest Ford Fiesta that has a new exterior styling and is now packed with technological features found on the carmaker’s higher-end vehicles.
There will be two engine choices for the latest Fiesta. First is the 1.5-liter engine with twin variable camshaft timing that was used in the previous model, and the other is the new 1.0-liter EcoBoost power plant that will be available later this year.
The upgraded Fiesta with the 1.5-liter engine will be sold at Ford Phils.’ showrooms beginning August.
Teased by Ford Phils. at the Manila International Auto Show in April, the Fiesta now keeps its driver “connected” while on the road through the Ford Sync feature. The system lets the driver answer phone calls hands-free, as well as select music from devices connected via Bluetooth or USB. It can also read out text messages through voice commands, helping the driver to “keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road”—according to Ford’s campaign.
“With Sync, Bluetooth connectivity and MP3 capabilities, the tech-savvy can be constantly plugged into their favorite music and connected to the world while on the go,” said Ford Phils. Managing Director Kay Hart.
Also new to the latest Fiesta is a smart keyless entry system, something that used to be available only in premium cars. The system cuts the need for a key to unlock the Fiesta’s doors and start its engine, the latter accomplished by merely pushing the start button.
“Our aim with the new Fiesta was to take a popular car that was already a segment leader in fuel efficiency, performance and personality, and make it even better,” Hart said. “The Fiesta continues to push the boundaries and seal its credentials as the small car that stands out in the competition.”
The latest Fiesta retains its electric power-assist steering system, rear parking sensors and hill-launch assist.
Hart forecast the upgraded Fiesta will help boost Ford Phils’ sales.
“We are confident that the new Fiesta will continue to attract even more new-to-Ford customers to our showrooms, with its unmatched combination of quality, fuel efficiency, safety, smart technologies and head-turning looks,” she said, noting that the Fiesta has been a key factor in the company’s gains since the car was introduced in 2010.
The latest Fiesta will be sold in eight variants with prices that range from P698,000 to P868,000.
