As a yearly tradition, Cosmopolitan magazine stages the Cosmo Bachelor Bash (CBB) to showcase the hottest celebrities, models, and athletes in a runway display of muscled bodies.
For its 2015 edition, the show was dubbed “Cosmo Carnival” and featured “69 carnival kings” at the SM Mall of Asia concert grounds in Pasay City. Leading the pack of hot males was model-turned-actor, Daniel Matsunaga who had definitely come a long way from just being a CBB alumna. The winner of the Pinoy Big Brother All In show has not only landed project after project in showbiz, but also a beautiful and popular girlfriend Erich Gonzales, who even posed with him on the cover of Cosmo Men, the special insert of the Cosmopolitan September 2015 issue.
And while Erich was a no show at Cosmo Carnival, Daniel still made sure to please every female—and female at heart—with his perfectly chiseled abs as he strutted down the runway.
While Daniel proved to be the show’s much-awaited hunk, the audience also feasted their eyes on other CBB carnival kings, who like the Brazilian-Japanese celebrity did not disappoint.
ABS-CBN stars JC de Vera—who was most applauded next to Daniel—and rising talent Alex Medina who hails from the prominent Medina clan of celebrities also got the girls gaga.
Gifted with his father Pen Medina’s acting chops, Alex gave his first CBB everything he had with such gimmicks like rolling on stage, pretending to be a rock star and even teasing to pull down his pants.
Rival station GMA 7 was not left behind as it rallied behind its young talents Elmo Magalona, the famous son of the late Francis Magalona, and teen actor Derrick Monasterio.
Twenty-one-year-old Elmo was a wholesome cutie who has developed a more defined body. Meanwhile, 20-year-old Derrick turned out to be a revelation, showing his naughty side, as he pulled a colorful lollipop from the inside of his pants. His stunt did not end there as he gamely unwrapped it and licked in the most delicious manner—getting the fans really excited.
Another much talked about scene at 2015 CBB was that of a wild guest groping Alex Castro. As expected the singer-actor of ABS-CBN was not happy with what happened as he turned to his Instagram account and posted, “We can’t control the crowd but that is foul para sa kahit kanino. Sa part ko, I have to be professional sa mg ganun[g]pagkakataon. All we want is to make the audience enjoy the show. Ingat nalang sa susunod para di na maulit yung ganitong insidente. But overall, it was a great show.”
While many did enjoy this year’s CBB, some were left a bit disappointed commenting that the 2015 edition was “toned down” compared to previous outings. Annual attendees speculated the reason for the tamer production is because of the change in venue.
Unlike previous years when the CBB was staged at the World Trade Center, this year saw the show at the one of Manila’s busiest malls at the SM MOA. Free for all mallers to see—children included of course—pants and shorts became the order of the day.
Others also noted the shortage in famous names in the roster of this year’s Cosmo bachelor centerfolds. Besides Daniel, JC, Elmo, and Derrick, also featured this year were PBA players Jens Knuttel and Ryan Araña, and models LA Aguinaldo, Kirst Viray, Amadeo Leandro and Clint Bondad. Only Ryan and LA rang a bell in name recall.
Nevertheless, no one can doubt that it was another successful Cosmo Bachelor Bash, only less “titillating” than its forerunners.
