• Ginebra faces Meralco as Tropang Texters seek 3rd win

CO-leader Ginebra Kings face Meralco Bolts as Talk ‘N Text seek for their third win when they take on Globalport Batang Pier tonight in the 39th Philippine Basketball Association Philippine Cup elimination round at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Kings, led by Greg Slaughter, Japeth Aguilar and Jay-R Reyes, have already notched three straight victories, their best start so far in years. And with a 3-0 win-loss slate, coach Ato Agustin’s wards are in high spirits when they take on Meralco at 8 p.m.

In the other game, defending titlist Tropang Texters, fresh from their 114-111 overtime win over Alaska Aces on Thursday, will field new member Danny Seigle in their 5:45 p.m. encounter against Globalport Batang Pier.

The 6’1 Mark Caguioa, a third overall pick by the Kings in 2001, finished with 29 points, two rebounds and four assists in their 109-104 victory over Batang Pier. The win allowed them to tie Petron Blaze at the top of the standings.
