Ginebra survives Blackwater in double OT


Barangay Ginebra escaped Blackwater 102-94 in double overtime to bag an outright quarterfinals berth in the Philippine Basketball Association Season 41 Philippine Cup at the Angeles University Foundation gym in Angeles, Pampanga on Saturday.

Greg Slaughter finished with 35 points, 15 rebounds and two block shots. Japeth Aguilar posted 25 points while LA Tenorio contributed 19 points for the Gin Kings. Ginebra, with the victory, improved its win-loss record to 5-4.

Reil Cervantes scored 13 points to lead the Elite.

Blackwater’s win-loss record dropped to 1-7.

Meanwhile, PBA media officer Willie Marcial said that the appointment of San Miguel Beer governor and league chairman Robert Non as acting president and chief executive of the PBA would last until the end of the Philippine Cup next year.

“PBA Chairman Robert Non will be the league’s acting president and CEO until this conference,” Marcial told The Manila Times in a phone interview. “His appointment to replace Salud was unanimously approved by the board.” JOSEF T. RAMOS
