Give proof, we’ll have them jailed

“If he has proof to present . . . (we’ll send to jail) Holy Family Printing.”

Thus poll body chairman Sixto Brillantes, Jr. said over the alleged overprinting of ballots as claimed by former Commission on Elections official Melchor Magdamo.

Although Brillantes did not comment on the issue, he emphasized that they are scheduled to hold an investigation to the end the alleged overprinting of ballots in the 2010 and 2013 automated elections in Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

“I hope he will be ready to present evidence we’re going to formally require Holy Family and we will require Mr. Magdamo to present evidence,” he said.

If he has no evidence, I hope he is responsible enough to accept that what he is saying is not correct,” he added.

In a press statement, Magdamo disclosed that the overprinting of ballots was done when he was still with the poll body.

Magdamo, however said that ‘extra ballots’ were meant to be used in areas that incur failure of elections which often occur in ARMM and in other areas in the South.

Brillantes, on the other hand, believes that Magdamo is just ‘looking for publicity’.

“He has never been tapped in the Comelec . . . and he has yet to prove one of his accusations and I don’t think he knows anything,” Brillantes said when asked about possible reasons of Magdamo’s expose.

Meanwhile, Brillantes hopes that Magdamo will appear in the investigation and state all his public statements and have it under oath.
