Global FC will face Cambodia’s Nagaworld FC in the 2016 RHB Singapore Cup at 7:30 p.m. today at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore.
“We’ve had a look at Nagaworld and they’re inconsistent. They win, they lose and they win and they lose. So it’s a game we certainly feel comfortable at. We don’t have any fear,” Global head coach Leigh Manson said in an interview.
Global is one of the two representatives of the Philippines to the regional club football tournament.
Manson added that they had ample preparation leading up to the game since their previous outing against rivals Loyola Meralco Sparks FC, which they’ve won, 1-0, in the United Football League on May 14.
Global FC also had an international tune-up match against the national team of Taiwan in Manila on Monday as part of their preparation. Fortified by Azkals members, the local powerhouse team posted a slim 1-0 victory over the visiting Taiwanese through the lone goal of midfielder OJ Clarino at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.
Global FC currently sits on top of the UFL league standings with a pristine record of four wins while Nagaworld are at the third spot with four wins, two draws and two losses in their domestic competition.
Besides Global FC, reigning UFL champions Ceres La Salle FC is also scheduled to plunge into action in this year’s Singapore Cup as they face the Young Lions FC of Singapore at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday at the same venue.
