In Tuesday, the club bowed out of contention after losing to Albirex Niigata FC 1-3.

The Brunei squad immediately dominated the first half of the game with midfielder Hendra Azam scoring an early goal to give his squad a 0-1 advantage.

Global FC retaliated with a shot by Dennis Villanueva from a pass by Mark Hartmann. However, a handball infraction by Daisuke Sato inside the box in the 42nd minute prompted the referee to award a penalty to the Brunei squad.

Consequently, Portuguese winger Paulo Sergio scored another goal to extend his club’s lead to 0-2 at halftime.

The Philippine booters came back with vigor at the start of the second half as Villanueva finally found his target in the 49th minute to cut down the deficit to just a single goal.

Global FC launched a series of attacks led by Hartmann and Bahadoran but was unable to slip in a goal.

Global FC’s hope for a comeback was vanished in the 64th minute as Serbian defender Boris Raspudic scored another goal bringing back their lead to two goals, 1-3.

The Filipinos were unable to catch up until the end of regulation.

Global FC achieved success during the early rounds of the Singapore Cup beating Hougang United FC in the eliminations, 2-1, before posting a victory against Geylang International FC, 4-2, in the quarterfinals.
