The Global FC under-12 boys team ended their third game in the SuperMokh Cup 2015 with a scoreless draw against Sepahan FC of Iran at the Maybank Academy Field A in Malaysia on Wednesday.
The team, playing in Group D with South Korea’s Haeundae FC, Sepahan FC, PSW Futera FC of Thailand and Bintang Biru FC of Malaysia, currently occupies the group’s top spot with one win and two draws for a total of three five points.
The Philippine team exhausted all effort to take home another win but was unable to penetrate the tough defense of the Iranians until the end of regulation.
During their first match, the Philippine booters thumped the Thais, 6-2, to clinch the provisional number one seed of Group D on opening day.
Global FC U12 continued their impressive run in the tournament with a 2-2 draw against South Korean Haeunde, improving their standing by a point.
With a game remaining against home side Bintang Biru, the team is on the prime spot to bag a quarterfinals berth.
Besides Global FC U12, the Little Azkals U13 squad is also currently in Malaysia for the tourney that will run until December 13.
However, the Little Azkals are yet to book a win after suffering two straight losses against Uzbekistan’s Bunyodkor FC, 0-6, and Spain’s Rayo Vallecano FC, 0-8.
