Global, Green Archers plunge into UFL action

United Football League (UFL) first division clubs Global FC and Green Archers United FC will clash in the second week of eliminations of this season’s Cup at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium at 4 p.m. today.

Provisional group top seeds Global FC are coming off a merciless 7-0 rout of Pasargad FC.

UFL newbie Omid Nazari, a Filipino-Iranian midfielder, impressed the crowd with a hat-trick performance to propel his new club to a lopsided win during his debut.

“I would expect another good team performance including Omid. He is enjoying his time at global and working hard,” Global FC head coach Leigh Manson said in an interview with The Manila Times.

Manson is expecting tough competition come game day but reiterated that he expects his side to win against the Green Archers.

“[It will be a] tough game but we should win if we work hard and keep our shape they will have to worry about us,” he said.

Meanwhile, Green Archers United that are behind three points against Global on goal difference, also notched an opening day win at the expense of Nomads FC, 4-0.

JP Voltes FC is also scheduled to face Forza FC at 6:15 p.m. followed by the meeting of Pasargad FC and Loyola Meralco Sparks FC at 8:30 p.m.

Admission is free this coming weekend.
