Globe Telecom has entered into a partnership with du, Middle East’s fast growing telecommunications company, to provide overseas Filipino workers a better means to call home.
Globe Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for International and Business Markets Gil Genio said the partnership expands its reach in the Middle East and it would directly benefit close to one million OFWs in the United Arab Emirates.
He said prepaid mobile subscribers of du could call Globe and Touch Mobile for 20 percent less than the cost of calls through other networks in the Philippines.
Filipinos in the UAE can now call home for P4.35 per minute–a 20-percent savings compared to the rate of P5.45 per minute for calls through other Philippine networks.
Globe Senior Vice President for International Business Rizza Maniego-Eala said du prepaid subscriber should dial *135*71# to activate the service for free. A setup fee of AED 1 or P12 applies for each call.
“From Dubai to Abu Dhabi, Filipinos experience a unique cultural encounter, and when they yearn to share stories about their life abroad with loved ones back home, they are assured of the most affordable, quality IDD [international direct dialing]voice calls,” Maniego-Eala said.
The new service is Globe Telcom’s sixth co-branded partnership after the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan. It complemented the robust retail presence in the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy and Spain.
