GLOBE Telecom Inc. said over the weekend that it is closely coordinating with Samsung for the specific guidelines on the replacement process for customers who have already availed of the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone after the Korean tech giant announced it was recalling the devices.
“We will facilitate the replacement of your device with a new Note 7 as soon as Samsung is able to provide the replacement units,” Yoly Crisanto, head of Globe’s Corporate Communications, said in a statement.
Crisanto said that customers who do not wish to wait for the replacement of the Note 7 unit may avail of other preferred devices based on availability.
“We will get in touch with you directly via SMS or our official social channels within the next three days to know your preference for device replacement. Be assured that we will make this process as easy and convenient for you as possible,” she added.
For safety measures, Globe reminded its customers who continue to use the Note 7 to take the necessary precautions, noting that they should only use the original battery charger that came with the unit.
On Friday, Samsung announced the recall of millions of new Galaxy Note 7 smartphones worldwide following reports that the units catch fire while charging. The company had found a problem with the battery in some of the phones, resulting in a halt in sales in over 10 countries.
The world’s biggest smartphone maker sold over 2.5 million Galaxy Note 7 units worldwide since its launch a month ago.
