More than a week after the Commission on Elections (Co-melec) ordered the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the House of Re-presentatives to unseat 422 elected officials, former President and now Pampanga lawmaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo complied with submission of a “correct” State-ment of Contributions and Ex-penditures (SOCE).
Citing the poll body’s record, Arroyo of the Lakas Kampi party-list fully complied with the submission of her SOCE on December 17.
Based on the list of the congress-men, Ma. Victoria SY-Alvarado of the National Unity Party complied with the SOCE requirement on June 5, Reps. Joel Roy Duavit of the Nationalist People’s Coalition and Sal Fortuno of the Liberal Party on December 18.
Recently, lawyer Raul Lambino, Arroyo’s spokesman admitted that they were surprised by the poll body’s decision, noting that they have received a cer-tificate of compliance issued on June 10, 2013.
Meanwhile, Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. urged other elected officials who have not yet complied to submit their corrected SOCEs at Commissioner Christian Robert Lim’s office.
“For submission of late and/or corrected SOCE, please go straight to the Office of Commissioner [Christian Robert] Lim, 8F, Comelec Main Office, Intramuros, Manila,” he said.
