The counsel of former President Gloria Arroyo in the P366-million plunder case has withdrawn.
In a notice to the Sandiganbayan, lawyer Anacleto Diaz informed the anti—graft court’s First Division that his law firm is pulling out legal services for the Pampanga lawmaker.
“The undersigned attorneys respectfully withdraw as counsels for accused Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in the [plunder]case,” read the withdrawal of appearance, which had the conforme of the ailing legislator.
Effectively, Diaz’ assistant counsels Maria Rosario del Rosario and Christian Diaz will stop rendering legal advice in the case involving the alleged illegal transfer of P366 million to the intelligence of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
Replacing the Law Firm of Diaz Del Rosario & Associates is Gilera & Ticman Law Firm, with defense lawyer Modesto Ticman Jr. in the lead.
The Manila Times contacted Diaz regarding specifics of the withdrawal, however, phone calls were not returned.
Before Diaz withdrew, his law firm successfully urged the Sandiganbayan to grant the immediate family of Arroyo to visit her for full days on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
