GMA Network Inc. commissioned a new 5-kilowatt Ultra High Frequency (UHF) TV relay station in Butuan City on September 4 to upgrade and expand its signal presence in the country.
The relay station enables the re-broadcast of programs emanating from the GMA Cagayan de Oro satellite station and can be freely received by viewers on Channel 26 using either an indoor or outdoor TV antenna.
“Our superior analog signal reinforces yet again our commitment to offer our programs to a wider audience,” GMA Senior Vice President for Engineering Elvis B. Ancheta said.
Following the completion of the project, an initial signal survey was conducted by the Network’s transmission team in the City of Butuan and its environs, and the results revealed the superiority of GMA’s signal over ABS-CBN, the company claimed in a statement on Friday.
The new TV-26 Butuan brings to 52 the total number of GMA transmitting stations nationwide.
In 2014, GMA also commissioned a number of new projects including the new 2KW relay station in Daet, Camarines Norte.
