GMA Records plays the right notes for 2013

GMA Records is ending the second quar-ter of the year on a high note as it continues revel in the success of its exclusive artists Julie Anne San Jose, Kris Law-rence, Persephone, Yelle, and Blanktape.

After the success of her solo concert It’s My Time, Julie Anne San Jose’s self-titled debut album has exceeded Quadruple Platinum Record status with over 60,000 units sold for combined physical CDs and digital downloads. Her latest single from the compilation is “For Everything,” which is currently radio station Brgy. LS “Most Wanted Song of the Week,” and will also be the theme song of the network’s next big Korenovela, My Daughter Seoyoung.

R&B Prince Kris Lawrence is also reeling from the success of his 12-track album Spread the Love. Leading the soul-fueled record is the single “Ikaw Pala,” which is the love theme of GMA’s newest Koreanovela Padam Padam. Currently available in digital format, Spread the Love is infused with Kris’ signature vocal stylings plus symphonic productions and heartfelt vibratos, among them “Sabihin Mo Naman,” “Nightmare,” “Tell Me,” and “I Wanna Know.”

The female-fronted act Persephone, meanwhile, has breathed new life into the music scene with a straightforward album carrying universal themes on relationships. Critics have given a nod to the good old-fashioned songwriting of lead singer Barbara Jeanne in the tracks “Para Sa’yo,” “1 2 3,” “Ang Saya,” and “Di Pa Sapat.”

GMA Records also released the album Sana’y Mapansin: Certified Ka-Pusa by Blanktape. Blanktape is behind the hits “Banana,” “Jejemon,” “Chika Lang ‘Yon, and “Pechay.” The group’s 11-track album is available in CDs nationwide, and digitally on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify and OPM2GO.

OPM’s new muse Yelle is making waves with her first single “Bubble.” True to herself, the artist draws her inspiration from personal experiences, channeled through her lush vocals laid over wistful melodies. Loaded with indie pop goodness, “Bubble” debuted at the No. 21 spot on iTunes’ Top Songs. The albums are available on Amazon, Spotify, and OPM2GO.
