Former President Gloria Arroyo asked the Sandiganbayan’s First Division for a five-hour furlough so that she can attend the burial of her brother on Saturday.
Arroyo’s camp on Wednesday filed a three-page supplement to their request on Tuesday to let her attend her brother’s wake and burial.
The defense asked the anti-graft court to “grant her permission to attend the funeral Mass and interment rites and post-interment prayers at the Heritage Park in Taguig City on August 15, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.”
It also asked the court to let her attend the wake today as well from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“She lost the opportunity to see him alive one last time when he passed away in the morning of August 10. She was a few hours too late…An extra day in the company of family in this moment of bereavement will help assuage the terrible pain of loading a brother to a terrible illness…the extra few hours will not do anyone harm,” Arroyo said.
She also asked a three-hour furlough on August 19 for the 9th day Novena at her brother’s residence at No. 15 Avocado St., Valle Verde I, Pasig City. The novena will be held at 6 p.m.
