GMA Artist Center stars opened the year by reaching out to their chosen charities and sharing what they have with the people they care about.
Beginning with Eat Bulaga star Alden Richards who has made giving back to the needy his annual commitment.
This year, he joined Habitat for Humanity in spreading smiles to the children of Payatas. He read them stories and played with them, which filled his heart with happiness.
Alden expressed, “It has been an incredible year for me. Ang daming nangyari [So many things have happened] in a short span of time, and I can’t be thankful enough. Doing something familiar makes me look back and reflect, at the same time reminding myself to be grounded,” he shared.
The same goes with GMA singer-actress Glaiza de Castro who extended her loving arms to the patients of Emmaus House of Apostolate on January 20.
Recalling her memorable experience, Glaiza shared, “Their peace is overwhelming at mahirap isiping nalulungkot sila, kaya malaking bagay sa’kin na nabigyan ko sila ng oras ko at nakita ko silang nakangiti kahit sandali lang [Their peace is overwhelming and it’s hard to think that they are sad. That is why it’s a big deal for me to give them just a little time and see their smiles].”
Yasmien Kurdi, on the other hand, was inspired by the young ladies of Cribs Foundation.
She said, “Seeing the girls live their life to the fullest after going through unimaginable things made me reflect on my life and be thankful for what I have.”
Meanwhile, Kylie Padilla and Mikael Daez lived up to their advocacy of caring for the environment as they spent their birthdays at the Gawad Kalinga Enchanted Farm on January 16.
Little Nanay starrer Chlaui Malayao went to Star City on January 18 and enjoyed the day with her fans in Snow World. According to the child star, it was nice to see them have fun with the small gathering she prepared.
On January 24, the kids of Holy Trinity Home for Children were delighted with Joyce Ching who organized a mini birthday party for them.
“I have a soft heart for kids talaga. Kapag nakikita ko sila, parang naaalala ko nung bata pa ako [When I see them, it’s like I remember my childhood], and then I forget about my worries,” admitted the Kapuso actress.
As for Ken Chan, he enjoyed immersing himself to the colorful world of the LGBT Community as it lets him understand the role he is portraying in the top-rating series Destiny Rose.
Celebrating his birthday with the Golden Gays, Chan shared, “First time lang daw ito na may nag-imbita sa kanila kaya proud akong naging part ako nito. Sobrang sarap nilang pagmasdan at masaya ako dahil marami akong natutunan sa kanila [They said it’s the first time that someone invited them that is why I am proud to be part of this. It is so good to see them happy and in return, I learned a lot from them].”
