Former president Gloria Arroyo took her oath of office as reelected representative of the second district of Pampanga at the Presidential Suite of the Veterans Memorial Medical Center.
Mrs. Arroyo has been under hospital arrest since February 2012 for plunder charges.
The former chief executive took her oath at 11:30 a.m. before lawyer Galileo Angeles and six other guests who are her constituents.
Her guests include a teacher from Lubao (Epelyn Bamba), a student from Guagua (Rose Ann de Mesa), a vendor from Porac (Zenaida Arbos), the President of the Farmers-Irrigators association of Floridablanca (Dr. Rodante Pascual), a nurse from Sasmuan (Alexis Jay Sapno) and the head of the tricycle drivers association of Sta. Rita (Romulo Valencia).
Mrs. Arroyo, who has been long suffering from back and neck problems since she stepped down as President, bested her three opponents namely Charlie Chua and Lalah Leoncio (both independent, as well as Vivian Dabu of the ruling Liberal Party.
She garnered at least 149,344 votes, while Dabu got 16,238, Chua, 1,966 and Leoncio, 1,271.
